The following are the minimum hardware and software requirements to run Coabis 11.x and above. Other applications and hardware to be used may have additional requirements.

  • Intel Pentium (or equivalent) minimum.

  • Oracle Standard or Enterprise Edition, versions 12.2.0.1 or above.

  • Oracle-supported operating platform.

  • Server hardware requirements as per Oracle recommendations, though a minimum of 4GB RAM is required, 8GB recommended.

  • 10GB hard disk.

  • Intel Pentium (or equivalent) minimum.

  • 1GB RAM minimum, 2GB recommended.

  • Windows 7 / 8 / 10 / 11.

  • XGA+ 1152x864 resolution monitor, with Small Fonts setting enabled in Windows.

  • Oracle 32bit client installed and SQL*Net configured.

  • Digital video overlay: 1 spare RS232/serial port.

  • VCR control + video overlay: 2 spare RS232/serial ports.

  • Intel Pentium (or equivalent) minimum.

  • Windows 7 / 8 / 10 / 11

  • 4GB RAM minimum, 8GB recommended.

  • Oracle Standard, Enterprise or Personal Edition, versions 12.2.0.1 or above.

  • Oracle 32bit client installed and SQL*Net configured.

  • XGA+ 1152x864 resolution monitor, with Small Fonts setting enabled in Windows.

  • Digital video overlay: 1 spare RS232/serial port.

  • VCR control + video overlay: 2 spare RS232/serial ports.

  • Oracle Standard, Enterprise or Personal Edition, versions 12.2.0.1 or above, however only Coabis v12.1 has been fully tested with Oracle 19c.

  • Coabis does NOT support Oracle Unicode character sets. Please ensure that the Oracle database is built with a non-unicode character set such as WE8ISO8859P1

  • When creating Oracle database, please disable Deferred Segment Creation.

  • For Coabis v11.x or earlier, disable case-sensitive passwords.

  • Installation of latest operating system patches to ensure all Windows DLL, OCX, etc. files are up-to-date.

  • Read Access to the following Windows registry keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oracle
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DOC; .XLS; .DWG
This reads the shell execute path, to which read-only access is also required – e.g. Word.Document.8\shell\command.

  • Full Control of the following Windows registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Coabis

  • Coabis has been tested with the following operating systems:

For the purposes of video playback, particularly on corporate networks, Aker recommend that digital video be encoded using MPEG1 or MPEG2 formats, though we also strongly recommend that you consult your IT Department for advice in this regard. Please contact the vendor and/or inspection contractor for advice on video storage options during offshore use.

Using NETmc DVRi

1 x null modem cable connecting Coabis PC to NETmc DVRi

Using Oceantools VO-1W or 4W
  • 1 x overlay unit per online workstation

  • 1 x null modem cable connecting Coabis PC to Oceantools unit

Bandwidth requirements will vary depending upon end-user deployment and usage – e.g. replay of digital video will require a higher bandwidth (which will vary depending upon encoding format and quality) than data retrieval from the Oracle database. For onshore office-based use and most offshore/vessel-based use of Coabis, typical office network bandwidth is sufficient.
